Hair care products are often one of the hardest things to switch from chemical products to natural products. But it's worth persevering, as the benefits for your hair and the planet add up. Conventional hairsprays use polymers (sometimes made from plastics) and often aerosol systems to deliver them to the hair. Natural hairsprays, on the other hand, use sugar and vegetable gum (such as senegal gum) to set your strands and do so without aerosols. If you want to make the switch, the following guide is a good place to start! Our natural cosmetics expert Martina from the Saint Charles Cosmothecary has put together tips for the perfect natural hair care for you and we are now happy to present our natural cosmetics favourites.
Natural hair sprays to prepare the hair
In addition to fixing the hair, some sprays help to protect the hair during blow-drying. The Less is More Earl Grey Blow-Dry Spray will benefit your hair in many ways - aloe vera moisturises your hair and scalp, pullulan, a polysaccharide made from starch, adds volume and shine, and the 100% certified organic essences of orange blossom, rose and Sicilian bergamot will not only brighten your mood but also replace synthetic fragrances. This certified organic natural hair spray is also suitable for vegans and is harmless. Also recommended are the Less is More Protein Spray, which gives hair soft manageability and tames flyaways, and the Less is More Angelroot Volume Spray, which works perfectly as a blow-dry fixer and roots booster for added fullness and strength.

Natural hair sprays to fix
Want your hair to stay put? The Less is More Thyme Lacque comes completely without propellants and gives strong hold, enhances shine and moisturises, this based on exclusively natural film formers. You can use more with the help of Mascobado cane sugar if you prefer a stronger hold. John Masters also makes a great strong hold hairspray (it's not as strong as traditional hairsprays - but still one of the strongest among natural products). Spray into damp or dry hair, style.

Natural hair sprays to finish
If you ironed a silk shirt as much as some people straighten their hair, it would dull very quickly. After years of build up with synthetic silicones and heat protectants, the hair ends up looking dull and lacklustre. The Less is More Lindengloss Finishing Spray is certified organic and works in many ways, thanks to its natural ingredients. This two-phase shine spray (shake well before use) smooths frizzy and damaged hair and minimises dryness, UV damage and colour loss. Need an extra dose of grip to finish? Then we recommend the texturising Elderflower Salt Spray and the John Masters Sea Mist Sea Salt Spray with lavender.
