Since its foundation in 1920, the Festival has become a landmark in the world of music and theatre. We are very proud to be part of this important cultural event as an official product sponsor and report on interesting facts. In addition, our store team in Salzburg will give you insider tips for your next visit to Salzburg.
The biggest stage in the world
The "Felsenreitschule" in Salzburg, which is used as part of the Salzburg Festival, is the largest stage in the world. It is located in the heart of the city and provides a breathtaking backdrop for spectacular performances. Originally built as a riding school, it was later transformed into an impressive open-air stage that can seat up to 1,500 spectators. The striking rock face in the background gives the stage an unmistakable aesthetic and enchants the audience with its imposing appearance. The Felsenreitschule is also distinguished by its unique acoustics.
Impressive history and top-class artists
The Salzburg Festival was established more than 100 years ago - by the visionary conductor and founder Max Reinhardt, the playwright Hugo von Hofmannsthal and the composer Richard Strauss. The aim was to strengthen Salzburg's cultural identity and to present high-quality art. In addition to the famous play "Jedermann" by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, a uniquely broad spectrum of events such as operas, plays, concerts and ballet performances with top-class artists is offered.
