Aloe Barbadensis Miller has been known as a medicinal plant for over 6000 years. It can store considerable amounts of moisture and nutrients in its leaves. This storage capacity is due to a gel-like structure inside the leaves. The so-called aloe vera gel helps the plant to heal itself by healing wounds (e.g. cuts) within a very short time. Over the centuries, aloe vera has been used for a wide variety of cosmetic and medicinal purposes, and its many effects have been legendary. Scientists have now been able to detect more than 200 ingredients in aloe vera leaves. The effective power is due to the extraordinary combination of active ingredients. An interplay between single and multiple sugars, essential amino acids, minerals, trace elements and secondary plant substances, etc., which have an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antioxidant effect, thus support healing processes.
Aloe vera is effective against sunburn and heals burns
It is now considered scientifically undisputed that the application of aloe vera gel leads to a significant inhibition of reddened skin after just two days and also has an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect. With the power of a medicinal ingredient, aloe supports the daily renewal or regeneration of the skin. In addition, there is the "moisturising effect", the ability to donate and bind a lot of moisture. Both together, combined with the skin's supply of nutrients from the plant's storehouse, the inner gel of the leaves, make aloe vera an ideal beauty care for any skin.
Anti-ageing with Aloe Vera and Ectoin
We cannot influence the genetic predisposition that controls our ageing process. This is in contrast to external factors such as environmental influences, e.g. too much UV light or chemical and mechanical stress on the skin. This also includes nicotine, alcohol, stress, too little sleep, an unhealthy diet and the toxins we expose our skin to through synthetic cosmetics. However, nature offers us effective alternatives: Power active ingredients from nature help to actively combat the signs of time that have already set in.
An important active ingredient against premature skin ageing is the moisturising and regenerating juice of Aloe Vera or the power active ingredient Ectoin obtained from fermentation. An amino acid that moisturises, stimulates the production of the skin's own proteins and thus strengthens the skin's immune defences. The new Santaverde product line combines natural sun protection with the intensive moisturising care of aloe vera and the anti-ageing active ingredient ectoin.
Santaverde products are available in our Saint Charles Cosmothecary, as well as in the Saint Charles Apothecary online shop.
