Das "Anti-Stress-Mineral" Magnesium

The "anti-stress mineral" magnesium

Stress is a worldwide phenomenon and is mainly caused by mental and spiritual challenges. Under stress, the body releases messenger substances such as cortisol and adrenaline, which put it on high alert. If the release of stress hormones is not balanced out by physical activity such as sport, this triggers negative reactions in the body and the cells consume more magnesium. If the body lacks the mineral, the nervous system gets out of balance and this leads to muscle tension, constriction of the blood vessels and higher blood pressure. Magnesium helps to counteract this, as it acts as a true "anti-stress mineral" by dampening the excessive formation of stress hormones and regulating nerve function. Magnesium thus helps to reduce stress and relax.

Magnesium for overstimulated nerves

Tics and twitches, irritability and hypersensitivity are also usually related to a magnesium deficiency and occur when nerves are overstimulated. With its calming, relaxing properties, magnesium brings general overexcitement and cramps into balance. The so-called "restless legs syndrome", i.e. restless, restless legs, can also be alleviated by magnesium. As an alternative medical treatment, magnesium oil has the advantage that it can be applied directly to the legs and thus to the affected body regions.

If the magnesium stores are well filled, this has many positive effects on the body:

  • Magnesium gives the body inner peace
  • At the same time, it provides a good portion of vital energy
  • It makes us more resilient, more resistant to stress and we recover more quickly
  • Depressive moods, fatigue and poor performance disappear

Well-filled magnesium stores are thus extremely important, as they help us to relax, and at the same time make us more focused.

Magnesium gives restful sleep

Likewise, magnesium is considered one of the best helpers for falling asleep, because restless sleep is often caused by a magnesium deficiency. With its calming, muscle-relaxing effect, magnesium helps you "come down" and sink into a deep, restful sleep. The reason for this is GABA receptors, which are found in the brain and nervous system, and which do not function without magnesium. The neurotransmitter GABA helps the brain to put thoughts to rest.

Foods high in magnesium include seeds and nuts (sunflower seeds, almonds, walnuts), cereal products (oatmeal, unpolished rice, wholemeal products), dairy products (cheese such as Emmental or Gouda, yoghurt) and, of course, fruit and green vegetables. In addition, magnesium can be supplied effectively and in good doses via dietary supplements (capsules) or via the skin (magnesium oil, magnesium gel).

It must be emphasised, however, that magnesium also takes time to take effect, and desired effects only appear after some time.
