When lighting the candle, place it on the lid to protect it from sensitive surfaces and use the lid as a fire extinguisher to put out the flame.
Let the candle burn long enough for the molten wax to reach the edge of the jar (1-2 hours). Shorten the wick to 0.5 cm after each burning so that the wax burns evenly. Leave 0.5 cm of unmelted wax at the bottom of the jar.
Reuse with tea lights or for storage.
