Like all citrus trees, the lemon tree is native to China but can mainly be found today in the Mediterranean. In earlier times lemon peel was often used to keep insects at bay in the perfuming of clothes. The fresh and cleansing properties of the scent of lemon are widely valued, particularly in the perfume industry where the fragrance is widespread. The scent can be described as light, fresh and fruity. Lemon oil has an invigorating effect on the mind as well as possessing antiviral properties.
