Pure and high-quality plant oils provide the face and body with valuable nutrients, help the skin to regenerate and make it soft to the touch. Oil is also an insider tip for the scalp. But which oils are best suited to my needs? In the following, we have summarised everything about vegetable oils and their use and effect for you. In the second part of this series "Which oils make skin and hair beautiful" we will then give tips on the right oils for your skin and hair type.
Taking care of your skin and hair with oil
Before it comes to choosing the right oil for your skin type, there are a few things that apply to all vegetable oils. Although vegetable oils are fats and therefore initially seem unsuitable for oily skin, they can be used for almost all skin types and problems if selected correctly. However, the quality of the natural oils is important in any case. It is best to use cold-pressed native oils in organic quality as a basis, because they contain the highest proportion of valuable ingredients, are similar in their components to natural skin oils and are therefore particularly skin-friendly. Those with sensitive skin should also make sure to use the oils as pure as possible and to avoid perfume, essential oils and other additional substances. The oils should also always be used sparingly on dry skin. Tip: The care works best at night, as the cleansed skin has enough time to absorb the care during sleep and is supported by the nutrients of the oils in its nightly regeneration.
By using the right oil, both dry, oily and blemished skin can improve significantly. An important distinguishing feature of oils is the distinction between drying and non-drying oils. Drying oils such as argan oil, sunflower oil or safflower oil are absorbed very quickly into the skin, while non-drying oils such as almond oil, olive oil and coconut oil contain a higher proportion of saturated fatty acids and are therefore richer. The degree of comedogenicity is also an important distinguishing criterion and says something about how much an oil tends to be pore-clogging. Highly comedogenic oils are not suitable for impure skin, but can provide mature and dry skin with a whole particularly rich care.
Oil for every hair type
Natural oils are also increasingly popular in hair care. They seal and do so without silicones and paraffins. Jojoba oil is said to help against dandruff, above all it brings more elasticity and suppleness, does not weigh down the mop of hair and can be massaged into damp or dry hair. Argan oil, on the other hand, can smooth split ends. However, the same applies here: Only use a few drops, otherwise the hair will become stringy.
