Traditionally, sage has long been cultivated by the Benedictine monks in local monastic gardens, where its positive properties have been greatly used. Generally known as a tea for gargling, for example, it is regarded as a soothing and balancing ingredient for a peaceful soul. The essence of sage is somewhat inward-looking. In this way it helps during phases of orientation towards inner values, facilitating acceptance in new life situations and the susceptibility to the advantages of reorientation. It has a cleansing effect on emotional life and helps release emotional blockages.
